This space exists to express things which shouldn’t need to be said, argue in debates that ought to have ended. But here we are. In the face of violence, disaster, and a growing threat of fascism across the globe, it’s easy to give in to despair and anger, especially those of us living in countries used to wealth and comfort. It’s easy to give in, to just switch off, look away, and accept the injustice around us. But I don’t think either pure anger or apathy will get us out here.
Here I write on culture, history, spirituality, modernity, and more. If only to make sense of what’s out there, to keep myself (ourselves) sane, or because I can’t keep silent. But who knows where we’ll end up together, me writing and you reading. Truly, a journey for us both.
It is likely someone, maybe many, won’t agree with everything written here. That’s okay. But even if something rubs you the wrong way, if nothing else take this from me and keep it; that we can still build a better world, create beauty in the place of horror. Cynicism is surrender, and anger can’t persist forever. Remember that you are not alone, and that one day things will be better. One spoonful of sand at a time, we get there.
